Description

These Coffee Churros take the classic crispy churro to the next level with a rich espresso twist. Golden and crunchy on the outside, light and tender on the inside, and coated in a cinnamon-cocoa sugar mixture, they're the perfect dessert for coffee lovers. Whether paired with a mocha dipping sauce, hot coffee, or enjoyed on their own, these churros deliver the perfect balance of sweetness, warmth, and bold coffee flavor.

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the hot water and coffee until fully dissolved to create a strong espresso mixture. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, milk, prepared espresso, butter, and sugar. Stir occasionally and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the flour all at once. Using a sturdy spoon or spatula, stir vigorously until the mixture comes together into a smooth dough ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  4. Continue stirring for about 1 minute to cook off some of the excess moisture. Remove from the heat and allow the dough to cool until it is comfortable to handle.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  6. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat. The oil should be hot enough that a small piece of dough sizzles immediately when added.
  7. Pipe long strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the ends with kitchen scissors. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  8. Fry the churros until golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  9. Remove the churros and place them on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
  10. In a shallow bowl, combine cinnamon sugar with a pinch of cocoa powder. While the churros are still warm, roll them in the mixture until fully coated.
  11. Serve immediately with mocha chocolate sauce, chocolate ganache, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Note

• Allow the dough to cool slightly before transferring it to the piping bag.
• Use a large star tip to create the classic churro ridges that crisp up beautifully during frying.
• Maintain a steady oil temperature to ensure even cooking and prevent greasy churros.
• Fry in small batches to avoid lowering the oil temperature.
• Roll the churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm so the coating adheres properly.
• For a stronger coffee flavor, increase the espresso concentration slightly.
• Serve immediately for the best texture and crispiness.
• Pair with mocha sauce, chocolate ganache, coffee glaze, or caramel sauce for dipping.
